Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is the sixth most frequent cancer worldwide and males are more often diagnosed for HNSCC than females with a ratio ranging from 2:1 to 4:1 [1]. Beside tobacco and alcohol consumption, HPV infection appears as a new risk factor of this cancer but with contradictory prognostic values. The discrepancy between studies could be explained as the prevalence for HPV infection in oropharyngeal cancer is nearby 70% in North America whereas it is around 40% in Europe [2,3].
