Gene expression of bronchial epithelial cells from asthmatic patients can provide new insight into unique molecular mechanisms that might be different among patients with severe asthma (SA). Using airway epithelial cell gene expression from 155 asthmatic patients and healthy control subjects in the Severe Asthma Research Program, Modena et al (Am J Respir Crit Care Med 2016; http://ift.tt/2m2YeAg) used a weighted gene coexpression network analysis to construct 64 gene network modules associated with SA and its specific characteristics.
