Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of head and neck is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide. The mainstay of treatment choices are surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Locoregional recurrence and distant metastasis occur frequent after radical surgery for locally advanced head and neck cancer, particularly for patients with positive margins and extracapsular invasion [1,2]. Postoperative chemoradiotherapy is used to treat advanced head and neck cancer patients who display poor prognostic factor [1–3].
