Letter to editor regarding “improvement of psychiatric symptoms in youth following resolution of sinusitis”

We read with a great interest the recent paper by Mahoni T et al., regarding the potential relationship between the occurrence of sinusitis and the development of neuropsychiatric symptoms in children. In this retrospective study, the authors reviewed 150 patients (aged 6–17 years) referred to the multidisciplinary Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) clinic in a 5-year period and, interestingly, they noticed that 47% (n = 70) had presented sinus diseases in their medical records.
