The accuracy of dermoscopy for basal cell carcinoma (BCC) has not been systematically studied. Dermoscopy is a sensitive and specific add-on tool for the diagnosis of BCC, especially for the pigmented variant. Dermoscopy training should be included in dermatology residency programs, as the level of expertise significantly affects diagnostic accuracy.
