Poor prognosis for thin ulcerated melanomas and implications for a more aggressive approach to treatment

Survival differences among patients with thin melanoma tumors is unclear. This population-based study found that survival of patients diagnosed with thin ulcerated melanoma was similar to patients with thicker lesions. The poorer survival of thin, ulcerated tumors implies the need for additional studies to determine benefits aggressive or targeted treatment.
