Colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence among individuals younger than age 50 is increasing. Recent guidelines recommended lowering the age of screening to 45 years for the general population, but this approach would add substantial cost to the healthcare system and be difficult to implement.1 Further risk stratification may allow targeted screening to enhance the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of CRC screening in individuals younger than 50.2,3 (Source: Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology)

Tumor microenvironment, immune response and post-radiotherapy tumor clearance
AbstractRadiotherapy is the treatment of choice for many cancer patients. Residual tumor leads to local recurrence after a period of an equilibrium created between proliferating, quiescent and dying cancer cells. The tumor microenvironment is a main obstacle for the efficacy of radiotherapy, as impaired blood flow leads to hypoxia, acidity and reduced accessibility of radiosensitizers. Eradication of remnant disease is an intractable clinical quest. After more than a century of research, anti-tumor...

Implementation of Primary Palliative Care in five Belgian regions: A qualitative study on early identification of palliative care needs by general practitioners.
CONCLUSION: Palliative care frameworks which help GPs to deliver 'tailor-made' care have more chance to be adopted than strict protocols. GPs should be given education for bad news breaking. Palliative care and advance care planning practices differ locally: guideline dissemination plans should respect these local differences. Dalbavancin for infective endocarditis: a single centre experience.
We describe our experience with dalbavancin to complete the intravenous antibiotic regimen for difficult-to-treat IE cases due to gram-positive bacteria. We treated 10 severely ill patients, each presenting several comorbidities. Seven patients were microbiologically cured from IE, but two patients experienced IE relapse due to the same microrganism. Short-term mortality after dalbavancin was nil, but late mortality (within 1 year of hospital discharge) was 60%. No death was related to dalbavancin...

Metachronous bilateral ectopic breast carcinoma in the axilla: A case report and literature review.
Authors: Tsuji W Abstract Bilateral ectopic axillary breast carcinoma is extremely rare. Here, we report the case of a 68-year-old woman who presented with a palpable mass in the right axilla. After ectopic breast carcinoma diagnosis, the patient underwent partial mastectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy, followed by radiotherapy of the whole breast. Adjuvant endocrine therapy was administered for 5 years. Seven years after the first carcinoma diagnosis, the patient noticed a second tumor...
