Opinion Statement
Allergic rhinitis is a common condition that affects women during pregnancy and causes them great discomfort at this stage of life. Although there are many medications available to be indicated with the aim of reducing the symptoms so annoying, the doctor must very conscientiously evaluate the drug that causes the control of symptoms and obviously must do this minimizing the potential risks of birth defects. As the population is vulnerable, it is practically impossible to test the use of drugs during pregnancy in the context of clinical research for the consequent occurrence of birth defects. Apart from environmental control that clearly does not carry risks at all, there are many medications available to treat this allergic condition so common that also worsens in patients with rhinitis who become pregnant. It is the duty of the physician who treats these patients carefully to elicit the medication that has more benefits than risks and thus help the pregnant patient to overcome this disease that greatly affects their quality of life.
