Abstract

Reporting guidelines were created to ensure research is reported in a transparent, complete manner that minimizes reporting bias. Further, these guidelines assist editors and peer reviewers when reviewing manuscripts for publication and readers when critically appraising published articles ¹. Though reporting guidelines and trial registration have been associated with improved reporting quality, the full effect of these guidelines has yet to manifest because many journals do not require their use ².
