Abstract
Recently, the noninvasive encapsulated follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (EFVPTC) received the name "noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features" (NIFTP) and was no longer considered "cancer".1 Furthermore, the treatment recommendations for differentiated thyroid cancer no longer apply to NIFTP, which is sufficiently treated by lobectomy only.1 The probability that a thyroid nodule corresponds to NIFTP has become of great interest in clinical practice, since it would at least influence the extent of surgery.
