Abstract

allopurinol-induced severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs), which includes drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), are life threatening conditions and occur almost exclusively in HLA-B*5801 positive individuals in Han Chinese^1-4.
