Methodological aspects of assessing hand eczema. Comparison of two tools and three different categories of evaluators

Abstract

Hand eczema is a common and persistent disease ¹ with a poor prognosis^1-3. There is no accepted definition of hand eczema severity. However, the extent of hand eczema has been shown to be an important prognostic factor ¹. Agner et al. applied HECSI (Hand Eczema Severity Index) as a measure of severity⁴. HECSI combines evaluation of the extent and the morphology of hand eczema. Meding et al. have evaluated the extent of hand eczema using HEES (Hand Eczema Extent Score)
