Construction and Validation of Educational Material for Children with Hydrocephalus and Their Informal Caregivers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To build and validate a journal-type digital and printed educational material for the informal caregivers of children with hydrocephalus (herein, informal caregivers are defined as the parents who look after the children).
METHODS: This is a methodological study conducted in the material unit of the children's neurosurgery outpatient clinic of a university hospital. The content validity index (CVI) with a concordance of 0.78 or greater was used for validation. Content was validated with the participation of five nurses and three neurosurgeons and appearance was validated with the participation of nine informal caregivers of children with hydrocephalus.
RESULTS: A 21-page journal was created to address hydrocephalus and its treatment. The content and semantics of this material were validated with universal CVI of 0.90 and 0.98, respectively.
CONCLUSION: The content and appearance of the educational material for the informal caregivers of children with hydrocephalus was successfully validated and, therefore, considered suitable and user-friendly for health education.
