Ramsay Hunt syndrome: long-term facial palsy outcome assessed face-to-face by three different grading scales and compared to patient self-assessment
Abstract Purpose To determine the long-term facial palsy outcome of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome by face-to-face grading by House–Brackmann Grading System, Facial Nerve Grading System 2.0, and Sunnybrook Facial Grading System concomitantly. To compare the applicability of the grading scales. To compare patients’ self-assessed facial palsy outcome results to gradings performed by the investigator. Automated detection of electrically evoked stapedius reflexes (eSR) during cochlear implantation
Abstract Introduction In cochlear implantation, objective fitting methods are needed to optimize audiological results in small children or patients with poor compliance. Intraoperatively measured electrically evoked stapedius reflexes (eSR) can be used as a marker for the patient’s discomfort level. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate an automated detection method for eSR and to compare it to the detection rate of the surgeon...

The epidemiology, surgical management, and impact of margins in skull and mandibular osseous‐site tumors
Abstract Objective Tha aim of the study was to characterize the epidemiology and treatment outcomes of head and neck (HN) osseous‐site tumors. Methods Descriptive analyses and multivariate Cox regressions were performed to analyze the effect of surgery on overall survival (OS) utilizing the National Cancer Database (2004‐2016). Results Of 2449 tumors, surgery was utilized in 84.5% of cases. OS was worse in osteosarcoma (5‐year OS: 53.4% [SE: 2.5%]) compared with cartilage tumors (5‐year...
