Abstract
The classification of mucinous neoplasm of the appendix is controversial. Although they lack overtly malignant features, they can be complicated by extra-appendiceal spread leading to pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP). This rare and distinct entity has been given various nomenclatures and classifications by different authors. Misdraji et al1 introduced the term 'low grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN)', which is also the preferred terminology endorsed by World Health Organization, for any mucinous tumour of the appendix associated with loss of muscularis mucosae or wall alterations.
