Meta-analytic evidence for increased low-grade systemic inflammation and oxidative stress in hypothyroid patients. Can levothyroxine replacement therapy mitigate the burden?
Abstract Purpose This series of meta-analyses were aimed to elucidate the impact of hypothyroidism on low-grade systemic inflammation and oxidative stress assessed by C-reactive protein (CRP) and malondialdehyde (MDA) respectively; and to evaluate the effect of levothyroxine replacement therapy (LRT) on those outcomes. Methods PubMed database and the...

Effect of photobiomodulation therapy on radiodermatitis in a mouse model: an experimental animal study
Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effect of photobiomodulation (PBM) for prevention of radiodermatitis in an irradiated mouse model and compare the efficacy of PBM using 633- or 830-nm wavelengths. Irradiated mice were randomly distributed into three groups: A (633 nm), B (830 nm), and C (without PBM). On post-irradiation days 7 and 21, we compared acute damage and recovery in treated skin samples to non-irradiated skin using H&E, Masson’s trichrome, anti-CD45 and...

Intracerebroventricular Treatment with Resiniferatoxin and Pain Tests in Mice
The transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) in the supraspinal region has been suggested to play some roles in the brain function. Described here is a protocol for intracerebroventricular injection of resiniferatoxin for supraspinal TRPV1 desensitization in mice. Procedures for some pain tests are also presented.

Frontal lobe epilepsy manifesting as vertigo: a case report and literature review
Journal of International Medical Research, Volume 48, Issue 9, September 2020. Frontal lobe epilepsy is a common neurological disorder with a broad spectrum of symptoms. Propofol versus dexmedetomidine during drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) for pediatric obstructive sleep apnea
Abstract Purpose To test for differences in DISE findings in children sedated with propofol versus dexmedetomidine. We hypothesized that the frequency of ≥ 50% obstruction would be higher for the propofol than dexmedetomidine group at the dynamic levels of the airway (velum, lateral walls, tongue base, and supraglottis) but not at the more static adenoid level. Methods...
